Great Lakes, Ill. (November 30, 2020) — Surface Warfare Engineering School Command (SWESC) Great Lakes presented Instructors and Sailors of the Year awards to five deserving Sailors.
SWESC Command Master Chief Demetric Hairston said there were a number of deserving candidates that were considered which reflects the high quality and commitment to excellence demonstrated at the command.
"The selection board had the pleasure of judging an outstanding group of nominees," Hairston said. "We look at a number of factors from the nominees; such as overall performance, education, speaking ability, community involvement, evaluations, etc."
Cmdr. Shawn Gibson, commanding officer of SWESC Great Lakes, said the selections epitomize the dedication and professionalism of Sailors within the command. He has every confidence they will continue to provide Sailors with the needed and necessary training for the world's finest Navy.
"We're very lucky to have such an exceptional staff working here at SWESC Great Lakes,” Gibson said. “The Sailor/Instructor of the year program gives the command a regular opportunity to recognize outstanding performance. We are very fortunate to have Sailors of this caliber here providing accession level training to our next generation of Fleet Sailors. ”
