After more than a decade at the American Forces Network (AFN), Karreem A. Lowe has been promoted to Chief, Television.
AFN serves more than 405,000 American military, DoD civilian personnel and their families serving overseas in 168 different countries and U.S. territories, as well as U.S. Navy and Coast Guard ships afloat around the world.
Lowe spent the first six years of his career at Warner Brothers working in both Research and Television Programming. He then left to help launch the Comcast owned G4 Network as the head of the Scheduling and Acquisitions. From there he helped launch another start up cable channel (Reelz Channel) as head of Scheduling and Acquisitions.
Lowe expands his responsibilities from leading the Entertainment Programming group to head the Television Division. In his new post, he is responsible for eight television services, which includes five entertainment, two sports and one news channel.
“I’m both grateful and thrilled for this new opportunity,” said Lowe. “It has been the honor of my career to work for this especially deserving audience of American military personnel and family members serving our country overseas. In this new role, my hope is to help shape the future of AFN as we continue to evolve along with our audience and the television business.”
Lowe has been heavily involved in AFN exploring a new video-on-demand service for its military audience. He assumes his new responsibilities Nov. 23.
