Staff Sgt. Nick Pappas arrived at Recruiting Station Montgomery in December of 2017 and currently serves as the administration chief for the RS. As an admin chief, Pappas helps handle all paperwork and clerical duties for all of the Marines in the RS. Pappas, a native of Humboldt, Texas, strives to make sure his recruiters are properly taken care of on this long but important duty.
Q: What are some challenges that you have faced on this duty?
A: It can be a grind staying on top of all of the paperwork for dozens Marines. However, I’m still a piece of the RS Montgomery machine that helps drive production. We all have to work together if we want our Marines to be successful as well as taken care of.
Q: What advice would you give to other Marines and their families and recruiting?
A: Patience and understanding are the two biggest factors when it comes to this duty. It's a lot of long hours away from the house and taking the time just to do something as simple as sitting down to eat as a family can make a positive impact.
Pappas is one of the many Marines that supports the recruiters of Recruiting Station Montgomery, which covers the entire state of Alabama, eastern Mississippi, the Florida Panhandle and western Georgia.
The Mission of RS Montgomery is to find the most highly qualified young men and women and help them embark on a journey to become Marines. The Marine Corps seeks to transform these young men and women into ethical warriors who win the nation’s battles and return to their communities as better citizens.
