HOHENFELS, Germany- Spring is steadily approaching and with the recent COVID-19 attack hitting Germany, the Soldiers of 1-4 Infantry Regiment have not let that deter them from training hard nor also having fun.

The 1-4 IN unit is normally gearing up to be the opposing force that so dubbed them the mighty and legendary OPFOR during training, but due to the COVID-19 they have had to take a step away from one another and look for ways to maintain proper practices during COVID-19 while maintaining their lethality.

The senior leadership of 1-4 IN, Lt. Col. Kevin Ryan and Command Sgt. Maj. Marc Stevenson provide inspiring words through their Facebook page. They encourage Soldiers to focus on social distancing practices, individual readiness, collective small units training and fun time activities.

Ryan encourages social distancing and those who feeling sick to get checked out and stay home. He also feels that you should not stray from being physical, encouraging soldiers to get after it while staying safe.

“If you maintain social distancing, practice washing your hands and stay physical we will beat this as a warrior family and team,” said Ryan.

However, it is not all grim and bleak with the restrictions put on those living on Hohenfels. The leadership has come up with some events have been put into place to give soldiers fun activities to take part in.

“There are a few activities we are are working on, like gamer vs gamer inside the barracks, movie night on warrior field, the thousand pound club, force on force and the the rock hunt which is currently going on now,” stated Stevenson.

In spite of COVID-19’s presence the 1-4 IN family is combating this adversary and they realize that is still training to be done in order to maintain the readiness, responsiveness, lethality and resilience.
