U.S. Marines with Marine Corps Installations West, Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton issued sleeping cots to the Los Angeles Police Department March 22, 2020.

The LAPD reached out to Camp Pendleton for support in their efforts amid the coronavirus outbreak in Southern California. They were provided approximately 100 sleeping cots to be used by officers in between their work shifts.

“One of the first organizations that came to mind that we thought would be in a position to support us at our time of need, was of course the Marines and sailors stationed aboard Camp Pendleton,” said Officer Ryan White, military liaison for LAPD. “All the Marines were excellent in providing us the support we needed.”

One of Camp Pendleton’s many missions is to serve as a hub for assistance and limited logistical support to its surrounding communities.

Currently, there are approximately 2,500 confirmed cases of the coronavirus in California, with more than 650 being in Los Angeles County.

“In times like these, it’s important for us to stick together,” said Nate Bertino, a warehouse manager with the Camp Pendleton Base Property office. “Camp Pendleton has a close tie to its surrounding communities, so anytime we have a chance to help them out, we jump on it.”
