SCHOFIELD BARRACKS, Hawaii - Noncommissioned officers and officers from the 25th Division Sustainment Brigade (DSB), 25th Infantry Division gathered in the Combat Sustainment Support Battalion classroom on Feb. 27 to participate in a Leader Professional Development (LPD) session hosted by Col. Landis Maddox, commander of the 25th DSB.
The LPD discussed dysfunction management and conflict resolution at all levels. Prior to the session, leaders across the brigade were given study material to view beforehand. This included a "TED Talk" and excerpts from books on leadership. This material helped those present to further discuss dysfunction management and conflict resolution scenarios from their own sections or companies.
“Today’s LPD was very insightful,” said Sgt. 1st Class Valine Doucette, a platoon sergeant from 569th Quartermaster Company, Special Troops Battalion. “I learned about some new tools to use in my platoon. I also have a few take aways from the captains and warrant officers from their perspective and knowledge experience.
”The biggest takeaway for me was the opportunity to discuss different conflicts and conflict resolution methods that other groups brought up,” said Cpt. Johnnie Hickson, commander of Headquarters and Headquarters Company, Special Troops Battalion. “Being broken down into small groups allowed me to see from another person’s standpoint on how they resolve conflict. So maybe I’ll be able to adapt some of their techniques, tactics, and procedures to help me resolve some of the internal conflicts within my company.”
