Grissom security forces hosts IRS training cadre

GRISSOM AIR RESERVE BASE, IN, UNITED STATES

    10.01.2019

Story by Staff Sgt. Courtney Essett

    434th Air Refueling Wing

The Hoosier Wing has a reputation for being a good neighbor to the local community.

A key component of that reputation lies in the mutual aid agreements the base has with local law enforcement and first responding agencies.

As part of a long-standing mutual aid agreement, the 434th Security Forces Squadron recently hosted a group of agents from the Internal Revenue Service’s Criminal Investigations Unit that participated in a training exercise here.

The agents travelled from Chicago and Indianapolis-area offices to participate in the day-long mandatory firearms qualification on Grissom’s range.

After completing training, the group ended it’s time at Grissom with a tour of a KC-135R Stratotanker.

“It was awesome, said Kevin, one of the IRS agents from Chicago. “Everyone is always very helpful and accommodating and always willing to go out of the way to help us. We’re very appreciative.”

Grissom plays a key role in global and national security. Ensuring that Reserve Cititzen Airmen are developing reslieint leaders and remaining mission-ready is critical to the wing's success.

The 434th ARW is the largest KC-135R Stratotanker unit in the Air Force Reserve Command. Men and women from the Hoosier Wing routinely deploy around the world in support of the Air Force mission.
