The 48th Fighter Wing Fitness Center is undergoing renovations for safety and modernization with an expected completion date at the beginning of April, 2020.

The renovation is being completed in four phases to offset the impact to Airmen and their families.

The most notable improvement is to the parent child care room. Future plans include a new location closer to the front desk, increased size, additional machines and mirrors, squat rack, age appropriate equipment for children ages 6-13, sports flooring, and a safety fire exit.

“The majority of feedback we received was for the parent child care room. The age appropriate equipment will keep the kids entertained, and I’m hoping that relationship is fostered so the kids want to come. I think there’s a chance for our families to workout together,” said James Muscle, fitness center manager.

Additional upgrades include waterproof flooring and a security system to be installed throughout the facility.

To ease the inconvenience of construction fitness center staff are offering alternative routes of entry while areas are temporarily closed for renovation.

“The impact of this renovation is for the community and to deliver something that is fresh, new and exciting, so everyone is engaged,” said Muscle.
