Story by Airman 1st Class Shannon Bowman

    6th Air Refueling Wing

Gen. Maryanne Miller, Air Mobility Command commander, Maj. Gen. Sam Barrett, 18th Air Force commander and Chief Master Sgt. Terrence Greene, AMC command chief, visited Team MacDill Feb. 12-14 to witness first-hand how Airmen here deliver unmatched air refueling, installation and mission support.

The Air Mobility Command leadership team engaged with Airmen, observed the operations of several units of the 6th Air Refueling Wing and discussed MacDill’s worldwide contribution and the impact of its KC-135 Stratotanker aircraft to combatant commanders and the nation.

“The Airmen at MacDill are adamant professionals, and your work leaves a huge global footprint,” said Miller. “You are amazing Airman, and I never have to wonder whether you’re trained and motivated.”

During a wing all-call, Miller and Greene shared AMC’s vision for the future and covered the topics of full spectrum readiness, mobility operations, modernization and development of the force, and the importance of innovation.

“We are always ready to execute the mobility mission around the clock,” Miller stated. “Mobility Airmen will continue to be that agile group, who enable the fight across the globe.”

Although the AMC leaders emphasized mission readiness, Greene discussed the importance of resiliency and taking care of Airmen.

“It starts with caring about your Airmen and caring about each other,” said Greene. “We have to be sure that we are having the difficult conversations and that we are building that connectedness.”

As the nation’s rapid mobilization force, AMC is always ready to step-up and ensure national security. In times of conflict, and in times of need, the Mobility Airmen of the 6th ARW will be ready to serve AMC’s vision of projecting strength and delivering hope.
