Wednesday Jan. 29, 2020, Vice President Mike Pence landed in Air Force Two at the Sioux City Gateway Airport. Pence was visiting Iowa for a campaign stop of 2020.
“The 185th Air Refueling Wing was honored to have the Vice President visit our installation. This is a rare occurrence for us and a great opportunity for the 185th Air Refueling Wing to show Iowa hospitality to the Vice President and his staff,” said Col. Mark Muckey, Wing Commander of the 185th Air Refueling Wing in Sioux City, Iowa.
Vice President Mike Pence was in Sioux City Wednesday night and part of Thursday. After that Pence took part on a bus tour through Iowa.
Chief Mater Sgt. Joe Donovan stated, “this is a mission, ‘unique to the U.S. Air Force’ to be moving the Vice President around the globe.
Air Force Two rested at the 185th Air Refueling Wing. According to a fact sheet available on af.mil the U.S. Air Force C-32 is one of a fleet of four specially configured Boeing 757 commercial airliner’s that are used to provide transportation for U.S. dignitaries.
The primary customers of the C-32 are the vice president, using the distinctive call sign "Air Force Two," the first lady, and members of the Cabinet and Congress.
