PENSACOLA, Fla. – Sailors now have a new platform to use to help expand and broaden their career options in the form of the MyNavy Assignment (MNA) Program.

MNA is designed and used by Sailors, command career counselors, and command personnel. The web-based system allows Sailors to view available jobs and make their own applications or make applications through their command career counselor.

“MNA is most effective for the Sailor because it provides more visibility and transparency between the detailer and the Sailor,” said Navy Counselor 1st Class Maurice McQueen, Naval Air Station (NAS) Pensacola.

MNA allows Sailors to explore new opportunities for personal growth, promotion and rewarding service, showcase personal skills and market themselves to future commands. Sailors can apply for billets, interact with detailers and track permanent change of station (PCS) orders.

“Once you take the time to navigate through the program to gain familiarity, I find it to be very user-friendly,” said McQueen.

McQueen stated that the program has several key functions that operate in the best interest of the Sailor.

A bookmark function allows the Sailor the opportunity to map out their career for billets that they might be interested in. Another key feature is a tracking tool function that tracks orders within the system which provides an in depth look at the detailing process - from being selected for orders to the final hard copies being released.

“Another important feature included is the resume function, which gives the Sailor a real chance to communicate with potential commands their personal accomplishments such as awards received, collateral duties, physical readiness test (PRT) scores and any important qualifications that prospective commands normally wouldn’t have access to,” said McQueen.

Upon the start of the program, NAS Pensacola’s career counselor team conducted an open house training session which included a live navigation within the system focusing on functionality and use to ensure a smooth transition. The goal was to have Sailors walk away with a sense of comfort with its use.

“This is an interesting tool which pretty much puts the ball in your court, so to speak, with regards to your career,” said Aviation Electricians Mate 3rd Class Petty Officer TyRenee Willis. “This really gives me the chance to feel as though I can dictate my career moves more so than in the traditional ways of the past while also encouraging me to invest more time into my own future.”

Sailors can view MNA through a secure website located at https://mynavyassignment.navy.mil.
