    62nd Airlift Wing

Col. Erin Staine-Pyne assumed command of the 62nd Airlift Wing from the outgoing commander, Col. Scovill Currin, during a ceremony at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Jan. 10.

A command pilot with more than 3,280 flying hours, Staine-Pyne previously served as the vice commander for the 62nd AW.

“The 62nd Airlift Wing is the best team I’ve ever been part of,” Staine-Pyne said. “This team does not know how to fail.”

Maj. Gen. Sam Barrett, 18th Air Force commander, who officiated the ceremony, highlighted Staine-Pyne’s history of exemplary service.

“Your incoming commander has a long and distinguished list of accomplishments that uniquely qualify her to lead,” Barrett said. “She already understands the geography, she understands the local community and she knows global mobility.”

As the 62nd AW commander, Staine-Pyne will ensure the readiness of more than 2,400 active-duty military and civilian personnel along with 40 C-17 Globemaster III aircraft. She is also the Air Force senior service component commander at JBLM and will represent approximately 7,000 Total Force Airmen to the Joint Base Partnership Council.

“This is an incredibly proud wing and I’m so honored to be your wing commander,” Staine-Pyne said.
