TRIDENT Refit Facility - Kings Bay

KINGS BAY, Ga. (Jan. 13, 2020) – TRIDENT Refit Facility, Kings Bay (TRIREFFAC-KB) is preparing for its next apprenticeship class.

The TRIREFFAC-KB apprenticeship program is a four-year accredited Federal Department of Labor Program that combines college courses, trade theory classes and on-the-job work experience to produce highly skilled, technically proficient journeyman-level mechanics.

A few examples of the trades that are employed by TRIREFFAC-KB to repair, maintain and upgrade ballistic and guided-missile TRIDENT submarines are Electrician, Machinist, Marine Machinery Mechanic, Insulator, Shipfitter, Water Treatment Plant Operator, Sheet Metal Mechanic, Electronics, Non-Destructive Test Inspector, and Shipwright.

Apprentices earn a minimum starting wage of $14.64 per hour and can earn up to $25.44 per hour upon graduation. Apprentices are eligible for benefits including vacation and sick leave, medical, dental and vision.

An ACCUPLACER NEXTGEN test must be scheduled and completed in its entirety prior to submitting an application for the TRIREFFAC-KB apprenticeship program through an upcoming USAJobs www.usajobs.gov announcement.

An ACCUPLACER or other valid college entrance test must have been completed since April 2018 at Coastal Pines Technical College (CPTC), however, applicants should contact CPTC to verify validity of existing test scores and complete any new required documents.

To register for the ACCUPLACER NEXTGEN test, an applicant must complete a CPTC application and release form. The application and release forms can be obtained and submitted to any of the CPTC campuses in Camden, Brunswick, Waycross, Jesup, Baxley or Hazlehurst, Ga.

Once the completed application, release form and test fee are submitted, an ACCUPLACER NEXTGEN test will be scheduled. The ACCUPLACER NEXTGEN test is administered on specific days/times by a proctor.

For out of area testing, applicants must contact the CPTC testing administrator to schedule the test at a remote testing site.

Applicants are responsible for all testing fees ($25 first time or $15 for a retest). Interested applicants are urged to register for the test as soon as possible as seats are expected to fill quickly.

Applicants should contact CPTC to verify if any previous entrance exams are transferable to the ACCUPLACER NEXTGEN.

For questions, contact the CPTC administrator, Denise Wedington-Jones, at the Camden campus at (912) 510-3327 or dwedinigton@coastalpines.edu.

    Eligibility requirements for the program:
