HOHENFELS, Germany- Joint Multinational Readiness Center and the US Army Garrison Bavaria leadership met with representatives from the local surrounding communities to include politicians, police and public administration during the Hohenfels Military Community 2020 New Year’s reception on Wednesday. It was an opportunity to reflect on the past years’ partnerships as well as look toward the continued enduring relationships.
Col. Joseph Hilbert, JMRC Operations Group commander, welcomed the guests and thanked them for their support.
“I am always glad to have the continued support of our local communities as we can’t do what we do without local support,” Hilbert said.
This was a sentiment reflected by USAG Garrison Bavaria- Hohenfels deputy commander Patrick Rothbauer.
"We appreciate the partnership and friendship and we hope to continue to improve as the new year continues" added Rothbauer.
It is a long-standing tradition at the Hohenfels military training area to have a new year’s reception after the holidays for Americans and Germans citizens to wish each other good luck, health and success. Another unique German tradition is having a chimney sweep present a penny for good luck. It is said that if the person keeps the penny in their wallet for the year, that they will never go bankrupt.
