    Partnership improves customer relations

OFFUTT AIR FORCE BASE, Neb. --
The Patient and Family Partnership Council formerly known as the Patient and Family Advisory Council received a new Defense Health Agency interim procedures memorandum in April. The name change provided more specific guidelines on the structure and procedures for the council.

Another change is that volunteers are required to complete Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act and Privacy Act training. The PFPC includes 55th Medical Group staff and patients who share ideas and work together to improve the healthcare experience for all patients.

All current 55th MDG Erhling Bergquist Clinic members are invited to join the council.

Members of the PFPC are asked to serve at least one year and attend meetings on the second Monday of every other month at noon. The members will share insights and information about their experiences in the clinic. PFPC members also help evaluate the services, programs, and policies provided by the clinic.

“We hope the PFPC will provide a forum for patients to help us drive significant positive improvements in our policies, programs, and decision-making,” says 2nd Lt. Robert Smith, 55th MDG TRICARE operations and patient administration flight commander. “We believe including patient perspectives will help take our healthcare experience to the next level.”

Council members should be able to work well with others, and speak comfortably and respectfully in a group setting. They should also listen with empathy and seek the perspective of others.

“We are searching for additional patients to join our team, especially active duty members. The positive impact we expect the PFPC to provide is sure to look great on a performance report or award package,” says Smith. “We need motivated individuals to not only provide insight about their experiences in the clinic, but to also provide input on how to improve the overall healthcare experience.”

Those interested in joining the PFPC should email their full name, date of birth, and why they would like to join the PFPC to usaf.offutt.55-mdg.mbx.pfac@mail.mil.
