SHEPPARD AIR FORCE BASE, Texas --
Every year, people across the nation gather to honor the fallen heroes and victims of the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center, the Pentagon and Shanksville, Pa., on Sept. 11, 2001.

Team Sheppard held a retreat ceremony Sept. 11, 2018 to honor the flag and remember the nearly 3,000 lives lost 17 years ago.

Additionally, Staff Sgt. Justin Sawyers, an air traffic controller here, gave a briefing about the importance of remembering the events of 9/11 and passing on memories to future generations.

As time marches on, it is important for Americans to remember our duty of paying tribute and honoring the lives lost on one of America’s darkest days.
