    Joint Task Force Civil Support

Joint Task Force Civil Support (JTF-CS) hosted an exercise Vibrant Response 20 (VR20) mid-planning meeting at its headquarters here, Dec. 9-13.

Vibrant Response is a U.S. Northern Command (USNORTHCOM) directed joint exercise to test and certifies the Defense Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) Response Force’s (DCRF) ability to response to a catastrophic natural or man-made disaster.

The meeting included JTF-CS leadership, as well as representatives from U.S. Army North (ARNORTH) and U.S. Army Forces Command, and covered topics such as training objectives, deployment operations, and logistical and operational support for VR20.

The meeting allowed the commands to discuss and work through friction points that would be encountered during VR20. Some of these points include unit start and report locations, methods of movement and providing good situational understanding to higher headquarters.

JTF-CS also introduced its new JTF-CS strategic employability expectation tool (J-StrEET). This tool can track, forecast, and display the projected timing when inbound units will arrive into the joint operational area (JOA) and can be employed, based on recurring, real-time, inputs from each of the unit commanders or their designees.

At the direction of ARNORTH and USNORTHCOM, JTF-CS provides military assistance in support of civil authorities by saving lives, preventing further injury and providing temporary critical support to enable community recovery.
