FORT INDIANTOWN GAP, Pa. -- Chief Master Sgt. Regina Stoltzfus, the Pennsylvania Air National Guard’s (PAANG) ninth state command chief – and first woman to serve in the position, will retire after over 36 years of military service at the end of the month.

Stoltzfus has held the position as the PAANG’s top enlisted leader since December 2016. In that position, she has served as the liaison between enlisted personnel, the adjutant general and the assistant adjutant general for matters pertaining to Air Guard operations and issues related to Airmen in the commonwealth.

"Chief Stoltzfus climbed the ranks, taking on multiple leadership roles and guiding our Airmen throughout her nearly four-decade military career," said Brig. Gen. Mike Regan, Deputy Adjutant General - Air. "Her role as top enlisted leader in our organization was defined by her putting our Airmen first and contributed greatly to our mission effectiveness, professional development and military readiness for the past three years."

Prior to her assignment at the state’s Air Guard headquarters at the installation, Stoltzfus served as the top enlisted leader at the PAANG’s 193rd Special Operations Wing, Middletown. She was the first female assigned to that position as well.

Stoltzfus began her military career in 1983 by enlisting into the Air Force and served in numerous active-duty locations around the world as an inventory management specialist before transitioning to the Arizona Air National Guard’s 162nd Fighter Wing in late 1987. She would later transfer to the Massachusetts Air National Guard’s 104th Fighter Wing in 1989 and later took on duties as a training specialist there. She came to the PAANG in 1992 where she again served as an inventory management specialist at the 193rd until beginning a series of assignments as a first sergeant in 2003. She later became superintendent of the 193rd SOW’s Logistics Readiness Squadron before assuming responsibility at the wing’s top enlisted leader in August 2013.

Chief Master Sgt. Paul Frisco, 111th Attack Wing, Horsham, has been selected as the PAANG’s tenth state command chief effective January 2020.

The Pennsylvania Air National Guard is comprised of more than 4,100 airmen across the commonwealth, and includes the 111th Attack Wing in Horsham, Montgomery County; the 171st Air Refueling Wing in Coraopolis, Allegheny County; and the 193rd Special Operations Wing in Middletown, Dauphin County. Supporting units are also located in Johnstown and State College and at Fort Indiantown Gap.
