BAGRAM AIR FIELD, Afghanistan— Two elders from Janqadam Village travelled to Bagram Air Field, on June 17, to meet with representatives from Task Force Warrior, Task Force Med, the Korean Hospital and local contractors about the proposed expansion of the Korean Hospital.
Korean Hospital Director, Mr. Bae, gave a presentation of the future layout and plans of the expanded hospital, which is likely to increase daily patient visits from 80 to 200. He requested guidance from village elders for the hospital operations and other recommendations from the local community.
"A temporary hospital will continue to provide services for 80 patients per day during construction of the new Korean Hospital," Bae said.
In addition to providing medical care for Afghans, the new Korean Hospital complex will also house a vocational training facility that will teach carpentry, plumbing and other trade-based skills.
"Village elders acknowledged that the new Korean Hospital will greatly assist the people's needs. However, they voiced concern at the large numbers of Afghans coming to BAF for treatment from distant provinces and congregating near the Korean pedestrian gate," said Task Force Warrior Force Protection OIC, Army Capt. Georgina Granville.
All attendees were served a traditional Afghan lunch in the Korean Hospital dining area at the conclusion of the meeting.
