Aviano dorm residents without a way of traveling are now able to rent a bike for free through dorm management. This program, started by Staff Sgt. Bojorquez, an Airman dorm leader with the 31st Civil Engineer Squadron, offers Airmen without vehicles a method of traveling to work and during their free time.
“The whole point of this initiative is to help Airmen that are in the dorms that don’t have a means of transportation to work or areas on and off base,” said Bojorquez. “Not all Airmen have cars and we know how it is to keep asking that one friend for rides.”
Not only will this new initiative help dorm Airmen get around, but it will also help them become more self-sufficient. It grants them the freedom of not always needing to acquire a ride.
“This initiative will help Airmen become more self-reliable when it comes to transportation,” said Bojorquez. “This also gives them a chance to get out into the local area and interact with all the amazing communities that surround Aviano.”
Airmen wanting to participate in this new program must speak with the Airman dorm management staff located in building 1428 in order to register. Airmen can rent the bikes for up to six months at a time and renew their rentals after the allotted time has passed. Participating Airmen must also have a working bike lock and a helmet available when registering.
