Florida State University thanked military members both past and present during the previous weekend football game. FSU also invited members of the 703rd Brigade Support Battalion, 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division, to watch the Florida State Seminoles play Alabama State University at Doak Campbell Stadium in Tallahassee, Florida, November 16, 2019.
Each year FSU hosts an annual military appreciation football game to recognize the selfless service of service members , retirees, and family members of those who have served in the military.
Before the event kicked off, the Soldiers from 703rd meet with the players from both football teams then moved to the center of the field where the crowd recognized them with applause.
Throughout the event the Seminoles expressed their appreciation for the Soldiers coming to the game, the fans and the opposing team as they put on an epic competition.
“Having my brother Sgt. Trevor Lloyd, a Biomedical Equipment Technician from 703rd BSB, 2ABCT, 3ID, and Soldiers across the U.S. attending our football games each year is a dream come true,” said Tight End Tre’ Mckitty. The respect I have for the military is unreal as they sacrifice their lives every day in order for civilians to live a safe life.”
The Seminoles scored on the first play of the game with a 69-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Tamorrion Terry. During the second quarter they took a lead of 21-6 leaving Alabama State with only two field goals. In the second half of the game, the Seminoles went on a scoring spree and were able to add 28 additional points to the scoreboard.
The game finished with a final score of FSU 49, Alabama State 12.
