Lt. Col. (Dr.) Jonathan Bingham assumed command of the 120th Medical Group, Montana Air National Guard, during a ceremony Nov. 3, 2019 here. A graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy and Pennsylvania State University College of Medicine, Bingham was a flight surgeon in the medical group before becoming its commander.
“Lt. Col. Bingham, you’ve got some shoes to fill. I think you’ll be fine,” said Col. Buel Dickson, commander, 120th Airlift Wing. “If you haven’t had a chance to read Lt. Col. Bingham’s bio, try reading that, it is impressive. In 1995, he got his bachelor’s in chemistry, and hasn’t stopped since. I think he’s ready for the task.”
Bingham, who replaces Col. Norman Hepner as the leader of the wing’s medical unit, joined the wing in 2014.
“Thank you to all my fellow Airmen in the 120th Medical Group,” said Bingham. “The best part of my transition five years ago was the enormous feeling of being a part of a family that looks out for each other and is clearly committed to the mission. Readiness and Airmen development will be my focus as your next commander.”
Hepner is leaving the 120th AW after accepting the position as the 156th Medical Group Commander, Muniz Air National Guard Base, Puerto Rico. He was the 120th MDG commander since 2017.
Immediately following the change of command, Bingham was promoted to the rank of colonel in a separate ceremony.
