VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – Information Systems Technician Seaman Taylor Mone, a native from Glen Burnie, Maryland, currently serves as a system administrator at Information Warfare Training Command (IWTC) Virginia Beach.

Mone enlisted in the Navy in September 2018, and following boot camp, she attended Information Systems Technician (IT) “A” School in Great Lakes, Illinois. Upon graduation, she reported to her current duty station at IWTC Virginia Beach.

While attached to IWTC Virginia Beach, Mone provides support to over 280 military and civilian staff and 6,500 students each year. She operates and maintains five different training networks for thousands of students that come through IWTC Virginia Beach “A” and “C” schools. Support spans from the server level all the way down to the individual users.

Additionally, Mone has been a key player in the technological renovation of classrooms in support of IS 2025, ensuring students are equipped with the best of the Navy’s technology available. She is also responsible for indoctrinations of new staff, helping to establish account access to the systems needed for their jobs.

In her off time, Mone finished her bachelor’s degree in English with a concentration in literature, while also being an active member of the command’s Honor Guard.

Mone also aspires to be promoted to second class petty officer while at IWTC Virginia Beach and to continue her education in the IT field. She also comes from an extensive line of information warriors with both parents serving in the cryptologic technician field.

“The best thing you can do is anticipate tomorrow’s problems and include them in today’s work ethic,” says Mone.

IWTC Virginia Beach, located in Dam Neck Annex, currently offers 65 courses of instruction in information technology, cryptology, and intelligence with an instructor and support staff of 280 military, civilian, and contractors who train over 6,500 students every year. It is one of four schoolhouses for the Center for Information Warfare Training (CIWT) and oversees learning sites at Jacksonville and Mayport, Florida; Kings Bay, Georgia; and Groton, Connecticut to continue aligning IW community training.

With four schoolhouse commands, two detachments, and training sites throughout the United States and Japan, CIWT is recognized as Naval Education and Training Command’s top learning center for the past three years. Training over 21,000 students every year, CIWT delivers trained information warfare professionals to the Navy and joint services. CIWT also offers more than 200 courses for cryptologic technicians, intelligence specialists, information systems technicians, electronics technicians, and officers in the information warfare community.
