Liberty Wing Airmen and families organized and hosted the first-ever 48th Medical Group haunted hospital, Oct. 25-26 and 31, 2019.

It was built in an effort to provide Airmen with another option to celebrate Halloween overseas away from their families.

“To everyone who might be homesick or really love this holiday and can’t find something like it near base, this really gives our Airmen a taste of home,” said Staff Sgt. Micajah McCollough, 48th MDG medical technician and event planner. “We’re setting up something you can’t really find around the local area, and that’s a true celebration of Halloween for the older crowd as well as the younger crowd.”

Airman 1st Class Shakira Jones, 48th MDG medical technician, said she loves Halloween, and celebrating it with a haunted house geared mainly towards an older audience is great to have.

“Last year when I got here, there wasn’t much to do for Halloween, so it’s really great to now have something that’s themed towards the older crowd,” said Jones.

The event was geared toward bringing Airmen and families a sense of community and morale during the holidays while stationed in the U.K.

“I’m doing this because it’s something I want to happen for the community and our Airmen, and I’m hoping it becomes an annual and wing event, “said McCullough. “Let’s make it something to look forward to every year for Halloween.”
