KABUL, Afghanistan — An International Security Assistance Force service member was killed as a result of an improvised explosive device strike yesterday in southern Afghanistan.
"It is with grief that we offer our deep sympathy to the family of this brave soldier," said Brig. Gen. Richard Blanchette, ISAF spokesperson. "As our flags are lowered in mourning, we raise our eyes to the brighter future this soldier has helped secure for the Afghan people."
It is ISAF policy not to release the nationality of any casualty prior to the relevant national authority doing so.
