PENSACOLA, Fla. – Capt. Brett St. George relieved Capt. Kertreck Brooks as the Naval Education and Training Professional Development Center (NETPDC) commanding officer at a change of command ceremony at the National Naval Aviation Museum onboard Naval Air Station Pensacola, Florida Oct. 4.

Brooks assumed command of NETPDC in March 2017. During his time as commanding officer, he led efforts at the Navy Advancement Center in transitioning Professional Military Knowledge (PMK) questions from the Navy Wide Advancement Exam (NWAE) to a separate 100 question electronic PMK Eligibility Exam (PMK-EE) for pay grades E4-E7. He also led efforts to launch Web Tuition Assistance (WebTA), which delivers unparalleled customer service to Sailors by providing greater Sailor self-service functionality.

“The collective NETPDC team has excelled in achievements over the past 2 1/2 years and I’m proud of meeting two of the Chief of Naval Personnel’s guiding principles – to ‘Enhance Sailors’ Experiences’ and ‘Deliver Unparalleled Customer Service,’” said Brooks. “NETPDC is one of the Navy's unique commands, providing development and distribution of Navy Wide Advancement Exams along with administering Navy College Program services via the Navy College Virtual Education Center and 11 overseas offices.”

Rear Adm. Kyle J. Cozad, commander, Naval Education and Training Command (NETC), was the guest speaker at the ceremony. He commended Brooks’ impact while at NETPDC and welcomed St. George as commanding officer.

“Under Capt. Brooks’ leadership, we have stretched the boundaries of innovation and transformation,” said Cozad. “These types of sweeping reforms and modernization efforts are exactly the types of initiatives that will continue to enable a more technically focused Navy, providing the tools necessary for appropriate service delivery solutions for our Sailors.”

St. George assumes command of NETPDC’s 14 military and 202 civilian personnel, most of whom are assigned at Saufley Field, Pensacola, Florida. He transferred to NETPDC from U.S. Northern Command in Colorado Springs, Colorado where he served as chief for joint strength management.

“NETPDC is a critical enabler for advancement and the off-duty education of our Sailors,” said St. George. “Career advancement and educational opportunities are a great equalizer and give Sailors a chance to reshape and change the trajectory of their futures. I look forward to joining the NETPDC team, which is dedicated to revolutionizing and improving how those services are provided and delivered.”

Brooks will be transferring to San Francisco under the Secretary of the Navy Tours with Industry (SNTWI) to serve as a Navy fellow at LinkedIn. SNTWI is a professional development program placing Sailors with leading companies for one year, where they will immerse themselves in the corporate world to gain experience in cutting-edge business practices, techniques and technolo-gies. Upon their return to service, they will be the drivers of innovation as the Navy looks to-wards the future.

NETPDC's mission is to provide Navy-wide products and services that enhance and enable train-ing, education, personnel advancement and career development. The primary elements of the command include the Navy Advancement Center, and the Voluntary Education and Resources Management Departments.
