JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Fleet Readiness Center Southeast (FRCSE) is the Naval Aviation Enterprise AIRSpeed Site of the Year Level III Award recipient.

The award highlights Continuous Process Improvement (CPI) through improving customer satisfaction, increasing integration between maintenance and supply, applying and executing AIRSpeed concepts and deploying CPI sustainment initiatives.

AIRSpeed Director Robin Geer said the award is presented annually to the site that excels at fostering a culture of CPI.

“We have the command’s support,” said Geer. “They provided us the leadership and vision to try and improve everything we touch.”

FRCSE is committed to CPI through workforce engagement. This process helps identify barriers and proactively implements solutions before conflicts occur.

Geer admits there has been some struggles in application, but that there is also a great deal of reward in being part of a team that is helping lead and transform the command into a more collaborative and effective depot.

“We in the AIRSpeed division get to be on the forefront working to help lead and mentor the team, but the fact is without the support of the command’s leadership and vision we would not have been as successful at achieving what we have,” Geer said. “It is truly an FRCSE team award.”

FRCSE completed 34 projects between Oct. 1, 2017 and Sept. 1, 2018 resulting in an estimated cost avoidance of $17.7 million. This figure does not include $8.6 million achieved in support of three COMFRC horizontal projects for a combined $26.4 million.

AIRSpeed Champion Gil Satterfield stated, “We have a Process Improvement Specialist in each Integrated Process Team throughout the plant to help spearhead improvements throughout the plant and find opportunities for improvements.”

Project sustainment and replication of best practices have helped transform CPI into a daily business practice and instilled a sense of pride into the daily routine at the depot.

FRCSE has won the award twice in the last three years.
