FORT BENNING, Ga. – During an afternoon ceremony at the Benning Club, Brig. Gen. Kevin Admiral assumed responsibility as the 52nd chief of Armor and the commandant of the U.S. Army Armor School Sept. 27 here.
Maj. Gen. Gary M. Brito, commanding general of the Maneuver Center of Excellence and Fort Benning, presided over the ceremony.
Brito said Admiral would, “bring a lot of experience to the job” and “contribute to the mission of the Maneuver Center of Excellence.”
Admiral commissioned in the U.S. Army Armor Corps from the University of Kansas in 1994 and holds a Bachelor of Science in cellular biology and a Master of Science in campaign planning and strategy from the Joint Advanced Warfighting School. He has served in Armor, Cavalry, Mechanized Infantry and Stryker formations during his career, and has deployed twice in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, once in support of Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan, and twice in support of Operation Freedom’s Sentinel in Afghanistan.
“We look forward to working with you,” said Brito. “He has lots of experience to bring to the proponency.”
Admiral promised the audience his best every day, and he asked for the best in return.
“Our duty is to remain the premier institution for developing agile and adaptive Armor leaders and Soldiers who have mastered the common levels and are capable of operating in any environment,” said Admiral. “Bottom line: They must be lethal and able to defeat the enemies of our nation when called upon wherever they are.”
