The Adjutant General’s (TAG) Marksmanship Championship Competition Matches, a yearly tradition to test marksmanship among the Ohio National Guard ranks, had an added honor this year. A new tab, or patch, was presented to winners of the Governor’s Twenty award, which recognizes Soldiers and Airmen who have attained the highest degree of proficiency with their individual weapons. The top 10 finishers in pistol and rifle can now proudly display the state award on the left shoulder of their camouflage combat uniforms.

The TAG matches were held Sept. 21-22 at Camp Perry Joint Training Center in Port Clinton, Ohio. About 150 Ohio National Guard members competed in individual pistol and rifle matches, as well as a rifle team match, firing in various positions at two different types of targets, ranging from 25 to 400 yards away. Among the competitors were members of the Serbian Armed Forces, a State Partnership Program partner with the Ohio National Guard since 2006.
