KABUL, Afghanistan — Afghan and coalition forces attacked a suspected encampment used by the Haqqani network as a staging area for foreign fighters, killing at least 29 militants during a fierce firefight in the mountainous region of Wor Mamay District, Paktika province, May 28.
The combined force discovered multiple weapons caches containing rocket-propelled grenade launchers, ammunition, AK-47 assault rifles, heavy machine guns, chest racks and suicide vests.
During the assault, at least six enemies detonated suicide vests, killing only themselves.
