Housing gets free air filter replacement

    FORT HUACHUCA, AZ, UNITED STATES

    09.11.2019

    Story by Angela Camara

    Fort Huachuca

Fort Huachuca’s housing partner, Mountain Vista Communities (MVC), will be replacing air filters in several neighborhoods beginning today between 7:30 a.m. and 4 p.m.

MVC installs new air filters, free of charge, for residents every 60 days. Residents can contact the MVC Maintenance Office to schedule an appointment to have their air filters replaced before their 60 days if needed.

No access is needed to the interior of these homes. If the mechanical closet is located in the backyard and a dog is present, a technician will knock in an attempt to have the animal brought inside. If no answer, MVC will contact the resident to reschedule to a later date.

Only the following neighborhoods listed below will have their filter replaced on Sept. 11:
    · Bonnie Blink
    · Cavalry Park 1
    · Cavalry Park 5
    · Gatewood Village 3 (Bernard Street)
    · Pershing Plaza West 1
    · Pershing Plaza West 2
    · Pershing Plaza East
    · Miles Manor 1, 2, and 3

The neighborhoods listed below will be contacted in the coming weeks to schedule their filter replacement. MVC notifies residents at least 48 hours in advance via email, door tag, or phone call.
    · Cavalry Park 2
    · Cavalry Park 3
    · Coronado Village
    · DeAnza Village
    · Gatewood Village
    · Signal Village

    Benefits of replacement
    · Clogged air filters are the number one cause of HVAC system failure.
    · By changing air filter regularly this improves residents’ indoor air quality.
    · It also helps remove sources of pollutants.

Effects of a dirty air filter
    · The lower fan in the HVAC system has to work harder to push air. When it’s working harder, it’s drawing more energy. The system is also more likely to wear out from the strain.
    · Your living area may not get the cool air that you’re hoping for.
    · The difficulty in moving air means that your living areas may not get all the good air they need.
    · Because the heated and cooled air can’t travel out of the furnace or air conditioner as easily, the system runs the risk of overheating.
