    Story by Dale Davis

Naval Health Clinic Corpus Christi, Texas

Naval Health Clinic Corpus Christi is looking for volunteers to join the Patient and Family Partnership Council and help to improve the quality of care for all patients and family members.
PFPC members provide a voice that represents patients and families of patients who receive care at Naval Health Clinic Corpus Christi, Branch Health Clinic Kingsville, Branch Health Clinic Fort Worth and NHCCC Det. San Antonio.
Partners work with clinic doctors, nurses, staff and administrators to help improve the quality of our clinic’s care.
“At NHCCC and its Branch Clinics, we want to ensure that our patients are receiving the best care possible,” said Cmdr. Michelle Perkins, NHCCC’s Chief Medical Officer. “The Patient and Family Partnership Council provides us with the opportunity to hear directly from our patients and their family members while giving them the chance to be involved in making meaningful changes at the clinic. By partnering the clinic staff and patients as a team we can have purposeful discussions, get the patient's perspective and find solutions together.”
Partners can be patients or family members of patients who receive care at NHCCC or any of its branch health clinics.
Ideal candidates for the PFPC should be able to offer suggestions to improve clinic care, share both positive and negative personal health care experiences, as well as insight into what worked and what could have been done better.
An interest meeting will be held at 3 p.m. on Sept. 11 in the NHCCC auditorium to discuss the mission and goals of the PFPC, give potential volunteers an opportunity to meet with hospital leadership and begin the application process.
Beneficiaries or family members interested in joining the PFPC will need to submit an application to the NHCCC Patient Relations Office and will be required to attend training and sign a non-disclosure form prior to participating in council activities.
Additional information on the Patient and Family Partnership Council can be found on the NHCCC website at www.med.navy.mil/sites/NHCCC . Application instructions can be found under the Patient Resources tab.
For more information or to submit an application in person, contact the NHCCC Patient Relations Officer at 361-961-6121.
