NAVAL STATION ROTA, Spain (August 29, 2019) ¬– Rear Adm. Rodney DeWalt, deputy commander, Navy Expeditionary Combat Command, visited forces, assigned to Navy Expeditionary Combat Force Europe-Africa/Task Force (CTF) 68, onboard Naval Station Rota, Spain, August 28-29, 2019.

This visit comes after DeWalt visited another CTF 68 command, Coastal Riverine Squadron (CRS) detachment Djibouti.

During the visit in Rota, DeWalt met with Sailors and Marines assigned to Explosive Ordnance Disposal Mobile Unit (EODMU) 8, Naval Mobile Construction Battalion (NMCB) 11, and Fleet Anti-terrorism Security Team Company, Europe (FASTEUR).

“During this trip, I had the opportunity to see some of the active construction sites and visit a human performance center that the EOD unit utilizes to maintain peak readiness,” said Dewalt. “But, the highlight has been meeting the men and women who work tirelessly every day in support of our expeditionary mission.”

“This experience has given me a better understanding of the organizational structure and the working relationships our units here have,” continued Dewalt.

Navy Expeditionary Combat Force Europe-Africa/Task Force 68 is responsible for providing explosive ordnance disposal operations, naval construction, expeditionary security and theater security efforts to Naval Forces Europe-Africa and U.S. 6th Fleet.
