Col. (Ret.) Renato “Ron” Bacci, of Wood Dale, Illinois, whose career in the U.S. Army Reserve spanned 30 years was honored Aug. 21 with the Illinois National Guard Outstanding Service Award for 20 years of volunteer service with the Employers Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR).
Bacci recently completed his second three-year term as the Illinois state chair of the ESGR.
During the presentation, Bacci said he has interacted with hundreds of employers across Illinois to effect outreach for the men and women of the Illinois National Guard.
“2019 marks my 50th year of involvement with the military,” he said. “While I will not be the state chair, I will continue to be involved with the ESGR.”
“This program is ran by volunteers,” said Lt. Col. Loren Easter, Employer Support Officer in the Illinois National Guard Joint Staff. “This is a very important program for the men and women of the Illinois National Guard and their employers.”
The Employers Support of the Guard and Reserve is a Department of Defense program, established in 1972, to promote cooperation and understanding between Reserve Componenet Service members and their civilian employers and to assist in the resolution of conflicts arising from an employee’s military commitment.
The plaque, in part read, “presented for outstanding service to the Soldiers and Airmen of the Illinois National Guard, their employers and families as a volunteer of the Illinois Committee for Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve.”
