3rd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division

FORT HOOD, TX – Fort Hood held their Hood Hero ceremony at Club Hood August 6th and all Soldiers belonging to the personnel shop in 3rd Battalion, 8th Cavalry Regiment, 3rd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division were recognized for reaching the best human resource metrics across the brigade. Also honored were two Greywolf spouses.

The personnel shop was nominated for the Hood Hero award for improving the standards within their own shop to allow their battalion to have the maximum time to dedicate to other tasks.

“What they have done is streamlined the administrative portion of operations and made it as predictable as possible to the companies,” said Capt. Virginia Clark, human resources officer in charge. “By providing predictability to companies on when individuals were due to make updates, the battalion is able to maintain the highest standard of readiness.”

Clark noted the changes would not have been possible without the support of the command teams.

“Without their [command teams] support, Soldiers would not come into our office to do updates.”

Clark, who nominated the shop for the award, said that staying proactive has really helped this shop in earning their accolades but also taking care of Soldiers.

By keeping track of Soldier records prior to when documents are expired, it minimizes the need for Soldiers to constantly return to their shop. This provides peace of mind to the Soldier and to the battalion as well. It also allows the battalion to focus on more time consuming tasks like maintenance or warfighting readiness.

Also honored for their dedication at the Hood Hero Ceremony were two Greywolf spouses Mrs. Bethany Beasley and Mrs. Mackenzie Lima.
Beasley, who is part of the 2nd Battalion, 7th Cavalry Regiment, 3ABCT, 1CD was recognized for her role as the Soldier and Family Readiness Group secretary, key caller and an overall active member. She has ensured that all family members receive pertinent information for their Soldier and happenings within Ghost battalion.

Third Brigade Engineer Battalion spouse Lima, was unable to attend the ceremony but was still recognized for her tremendous efforts. Her creativity allowed her to reinvigorate Greywolf conference rooms and even reached to other units with her artistic skill.

Both spouses will also be honored at the upcoming Distinguished Service Recognition along with other Greywolf spouses and Soldiers.
