    352nd Civil Affairs Command

During the 450th Civil Affairs Battalion’s change of command ceremony Sun., Aug. 18 in White Plains, Md., the focal point of three speeches spotlighted the Army Values. A U.S. Army Reserve designated Ready Force X Battalion, this unit serves at the vanguard of the nation’s operational reserve and represents the pinnacle of individual and combat readiness.

Commander of the 360th Civil Affairs Brigade, Col. Stephen Snyder, presided over the battalion’s change of command, accepting the battalion’s colors from its outgoing commander, Lt. Col. Susan Gannon, and passing the colors to its new commander, Lt. Col. Roy Minton. This time-honored tradition, conducted at the front of a formation of the unit’s troops, signifies the relinquishment of a successful command and the passing of loyalty and confidence to a new commander.

In his remarks, Snyder spoke of leading from the front, which requires personal courage, honor and integrity. He congratulated Gannon for her successful tenure in selfless service and wished her well in her future Army assignment. He expressed his confidence in Minton.

While Gannon shared fond memories of seeing her unit’s members rise time and again to prove difficult tasks can be accomplished, Minton spoke of the challenges yet to come. Weaved into the fabric of each speech were the values shared by all present: Duty, Honor, Integrity, Loyalty, Personal courage, Respect and Selfless service.
