The 124th Logistics Readiness Squadron contracting office, 124th Fighter Wing, hosted a public bid opening at Gowen Field, Boise, Idaho, May 21, 2019 for a Ramp Block Repair Indefinite Delivery Indefinite Quantity Contract. The contract will span three years and has a total contract work value of $750,000.
This contract enables the 124th FW to effectively utilize available funding to streamline ramp block repairs, saving 120 days of man hours per task order.
“I anticipate at least a years’ worth of man-hour savings due to this contract,” said Senior Master Sgt. David Dike, Contracting Officer for the 124th Mission Support Group.
The contractors will be working on the flightline to dig out the old concrete, compact the soil, and put new concrete down.
“It’s not a very technical requirement, it’s just a very expensive requirement. So, what we try to do with sealed bids is try to drive prices as low as we can get them,” said Dike.
It’s a national bidding process so contractors can apply from all over the country, but almost all of the contractors who bid on the contract are from a relatively local area with about 75% from Idaho, Washington and Utah. Hess Construction, who was selected as the winner of the public bid opening with the lowest bid, is located in Preston, Idaho. It will take approximately 30 days for the contract to be drafted, sent out for legal review and sent out to the contractor for final signatures.
