    335th Signal Command (T) Provisional

CAMP ARIFJAN, Kuwait – Brig. Gen. Dion B. Moten assumed command of the 335th Signal Command (Theater) (Provisional) from Brig. Gen. Nikki L. Griffin Olive at Camp Arifjan, Kuwait, 16 July 2019.

Moten has served over 33 years as an Army officer, and his immediate prior assignment was Deputy Commanding General of the 335th Signal Command (Theater), East Point, Georgia.

The 335th Signal Command (Theater) (Provisional) is headquartered in Camp Arifjan, Kuwait, and provides communication services to coalition and joint forces located at over 30 sites in 11 Southwest Asia countries. It is comprised of over 2,000 Soldiers, civilians and contractors. Its headquarters consists of more than 80 percent Army Reserve Soldiers who serve 12-month assignments. Designated as a provisional command in 2005, it is under the operational control of U. S. Army Central Command. The unit’s primary effort is the planning, engineering, installation, maintenance, and defense of the Army’s portion of the Department of Defense Information (DOD) Network in the Southwest Asia region.

Griffin Olive, during her remarks said, “All I ever wanted to do was to be a Solider” and thanked the Soldiers, Department of Defense Civilians and Contractors for the work they performed during her leadership.

“This team of great Americans whose hard work and patriotism have helped paved the way for our team to accomplish missions that have confounded our Signal Community out here for years,” Griffin Olive said. “These Soldiers standing before you today are the epitome of American Soldiers. Their passion about service to our nation, they’re deliberate, they’re purposeful in their actions; they have out-thought, out-run, out-worked, they’re agile, fiercely smart, collaborative, highly disciplined, experts at their craft.”

Moten, during his remarks, thanked Brig. Gen. Griffin Olive for all she did during her tenure as Commanding General of the 335th Signal Command (T)(P) and wished her success as she transition to the next phase of her career. “You and your team tackled some very difficult obstacles and challenges that have plagued this theater for years,” said Moten. “You have done what all commanders are challenged to do, leave the operation better than you inherit it.”

Moten , [the new detachment had] “big shoes to fill and they were ready for the challenge to continually provide reliable, resilient, and secured networks to the tactical edge so communications can be available to the warfighter, logisticians, and medical teams to ensure our Soldiers are safe.”
