    CAMP LIBERTY, Iraq - "When Soldiers work hard they should be recognized for it," says 1st Sgt. Antonio Martinez, a native of Philadelphia, 590th Quartermaster Company, 398th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion, 10th Sustainment Brigade.

    These Soldiers are being recognized for their many achievements throughout the 590th Quartermaster's deployment in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.

    Pvt. Brian Owens, a native of Los Angeles, Pvt. Nicholas Philipp, a native of Kalamazoo, Mich., and Pvt. Michael Vandenberge, a native of Riverside, Calif., were promoted to the rank of private first class.

    "They have been a tremendous asset to the success of the company's laundry missions," says Sgt. 1st Class Terrance Porter, a native of Las Vegas, and platoon sergeant of the 3rd platoon. They have been on numerous Shower, Laundry, and Clothing Repair missions.

    Staff Sgt. Nigel Dyer, a native of Brooklyn, N.Y., was awarded the Army Achievement Medal for winning the 398th CSSB Non-Commissioned Officer of the Quarter Competition. "His accomplishment brought great credit to himself, his section and the 590th Quartermaster," says Sgt 1st Class Joseph Filipiak, a Clarksville, Ill., native, and platoon sergeant of the headquarters platoon.

    Spc. Vincent Vancliff, a native of Jeffersonville, Ind., was awarded the Army Achievement Medal, for displaying leadership ability while being a shift leader at one of the combat laundry support locations of the 590th QM Co.

    "His example of knowledge and determination is an inspiration to fellow Soldiers and leaders alike," says Staff Sgt. Alecia Booker, platoon sergeant of the 2nd platoon, and a native of Charlotte, N.C. He is also being awarded the Army Good Conduct Medal for having three years of active federal service without any adverse actions.

    Pfc. Rico Flores, a native of Bay View, Wis., was awarded the Army Achievement Medal for his exemplary work at Patrol Base Carver in the Multi-National Division - Baghdad area of operation. He also assumed the role of assistant section leader and assisted in the execution of laundry operations. He was in charge of the inventory and accountability of customer's clothing. In addition, Spc. Haley Bartlett, a native of Napa, Calif., and Spc Abiola Griffith-Vancliff, a native of Brooklyn, N.Y., were awarded the Army Good Conduct Medal for having three years of active federal service without any adverse actions.

    The dedication, motivation, and will power of these Soldiers are an example for all Soldiers to emulate. This standard is set high and can be adhered to by all given the proper direction and motivation by leaders. The 590th Quartermaster and its Soldiers meet and exceed that standard every day. For their hard work, they are honored and bring great credit upon themselves, the 590th Quartermaster Company, the 398th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion, and the 10th Sustainment Brigade.
