Expanded Access to Non-Government Standards and Certification of SpecsIntact 5.0

The Technical Services Division of the Air Force Civil Engineer Center is pleased to announce two recent developments in its continuous efforts to improve design and construction capabilities across the Air Force.

First, we have dramatically expanded access to Non-Government Standards by modifying the current Department of Defense (DoD) subscription to IHS Markit’s Engineering Workbench to include access to 85 additional Air Force locations. These documents represent codes and standards used by industry that are referenced in Unified Facility Criteria and Unified Facilities Guide Specifications. While not every standard or standard provider is included in the DoD subscription, many that are commonly referenced in Air Force facility design and construction criteria and specifications are available.

Previously, Air Force access to the subscription was limited to only AFCEC Lackland and AFCEC Tyndall. This modification expands access to include Base Civil Engineer squadrons across the Air Force. You may access the subscription by clicking this link and filling out a brief registration form: https://www.wbdg.org/ffc/dod/non-government-standards

Secondly, SpecsIntact v5.0 has been tested by the Air Force Network Integration Center (AFNIC) and certified for use on standard desktop systems connected to the Air Force Network until 29 April 2022. SpecsIntact (Specifications-Kept-Intact) is an automated system for preparing standardized facility construction specifications using Unified Facilities Guide Specifications. A copy of the certification letter is located here: http://www.wbdg.org/ffc/af-afcec/policies-and-guidance-af-design-and-construction/software-certification-for-specifications-keptIntact-specsIntact-version-5x

The software is available as a free download from the SpecsIntact website: https://specsintact.ksc.nasa.gov/
