    Naval Medical Center Camp Lejeune

Naval Medical Center Camp Lejeune (NMCCL) Primary Care Clinics, which include Family Medicine, Pediatrics, and Internal Medicine, were given the Golden Seal of Approval from The Joint Commission June 27, 2019.
The Joint Commission’s Primary Care Medical Home (PCMH) Certification is valid through June 2020.
“This represents a new chapter for NMCCL as this is the first time NMCCL Primary Care Clinics have achieved this certification,” said LCDR Robert Bailey, Department Head, Family Medicine. “This is the same certification used by our civilian colleagues to measure their success in operating a Primary Care Medical Home and this certification recognizes our commitment to delivering safe, effective, and patient-centered care."
The survey includes thorough examinations of quality and safety of care being provided to our patients.
Interviews are also conducted with providers, nurses, receptionist staff, and patients to insure NMCCL’s Primary Care Clinics are continuously implementing services and quality standards to serve patients in a patient-centered manner.
Key elements of a PCMH, according to The Joint Commission, include patient-centered care, comprehensive care, coordinated care, superb access to care and systems-based approach to quality and safety.
The teams within all Primary Care Clinics dedicate themselves to empowering patients to drive their healthcare based on their needs.
Educational materials provided to them at visits, visual aids posted throughout NMCCL, how receptionists interact with patients and access to online resources like NMCCL’s refill line, Nurse Advice Line and TRICARE Online Portal are all vital aspects to quality and safe patient care The Joint Commission looks for during their pop-in surveys.
In addition, a combination of collaboration with a patient’s providers is another Joint Commission requirement the Primary Care Clinics excelled in.
The Gold Seal of Approval for Primary Care Clinics is the first of its kind in any of NMCCL’s clinics.
NMCCL as a whole has received The Joint Commission Accreditation for at least the last 20 years.
