Story by Senior Airman Heidi Goodsell

    31st Fighter Wing

Every month the Patient and Family Partnership or PFPC comes together to discuss one unique topic that is brought to the Patient Advocate on Aviano Air Base, Italy.

“The Council is comprised of 31st Medical Group leadership and is representative of our patient population. During our meetings, our population discusses the most critical issues and we develop actions that improve their healthcare experience. By having 31st MDG executive leadership present, we reduce barriers to improving our healthcare delivery. The Council is a non-attribution environment that provides a constructive means to work through healthcare concerns of our population,” said Lt. Col. Jason Richter, 31st MDG administrator.

In attendance at the meetings are the Tricare, Patient Advocate, 31st MDG leadership, First Sergeants, Key Spouses and various subject matter experts.

Patients concerns can range from off-base care, to emergency room visits, to on-base care. Every concern submitted to the Patient Advocate is looked into and addressed.

There are multiple ways to submit a concern to the 31st MDG Patient Advocate. First, you can reach out to the patient advocate directly at +300434305002Another way is to leave comments, concerns or kudos with an ICE comment card. You can also use the Tricare website (https://www.tricare.mil/ContactUs/FileComplaint) to file a complaint. You can even shoot a message to the 31st MDG Facebook page, just search ‘AFMS-Aviano-31st Medical Group.

In the near future, the clinic is hoping to install ‘happy or not’ kiosks. These are the kiosks that you see at airports with the smiley face to frowny face where people can quickly give feedback about the service they are receiving.

Lt. Col. Richter also stated that the goal of the PFPC is to bring the patient’s perspective to the medical staff so they can improve our population’s healthcare experience.

Any of the 31st MDG beneficiaries are encouraged to give input at any time, and the council members are encouraged to solicit input from the group they represent.
