The 379th Air Expeditionary Wing welcomes Brig. Gen. Daniel Tulley as the wing commander during a change of command ceremony, June 17, 2019.

During the ceremony, the wing guideon was passed from outgoing commander Brig. Gen. Jason Armagost to Tulley.

As the commander of the 379th AEW, Tulley will lead the largest and most diverse expeditionary wing in Air Force Central Command with more than 7,800 U.S. military service members, civilians and coalition partners deployed or assigned here.

Tulley spoke of his many deployments, assignments and experiences at Al Udeid. His first time here was 17 years ago, when the base was made up of tents. He returned a few more times including his time serving as a squadron commander. Over the course of his career, he’s watched the base and mission grow.

“The strategic importance of this base and the relationships forged here are born out of the history of the last 17 years,” said Tulley. “I am honored and humbled to be a small part of this great story and I never thought I’d be standing here today, but I’m very glad to be here.”

The wing is responsible for strike, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance, mobility, aeromedical evacuation and command and control assets, which operates INHERENT RESOLVE, FREEDOM SENTINEL and DELIBERATE RESOLVE.

"Dan you are absolutely the right guy to be replacing me,” said Armagost. “I’m very grateful that the Air Force saw fit to pick you.”

Before accepting his new assignment, Tulley was the senior military assistant to the Secretary of the Air Force, Office of the Secretary of the Air Force at the Pentagon in Washington, D.C.

“Brig. Gen. Dan Tulley, I know you eagerly await to take command here and the challenges that lay ahead,” said Lt. Gen. Joseph T. Guastella, commander, U.S. Air Force Central Command. “Gen. Amargost, as you move out to Global Strike Command, you can rest assured that the team here is on a great trajectory and the 379th AEW will be in great hands and continue to play a decisive role in the AFCENT mission.”

Armagost was humbled and grateful for the opportunity to lead the men and women of the 379th AEW and expressed his parting words.

“It’s the little things that every one of you are doing every day that add up to so much more than the tasks you are assigned and it’s been really impressive to watch over the last two years,” said Armagost. “It was my great honor to be here, I know I’m leaving you in capable hands.”
