    Navy Recruiting District Miami

WESTON, Fl. –During a change of command ceremony, Cmdr. Delmy Robinson was relieved as commanding officer of Navy Recruiting District (NRD) Miami by Cmdr. Donavan Rivera in Weston, Fl. June 7.
Navy recruiting commands usually change leadership every 18 months, with the current serving executive officer transitioning to commanding officer.
Robinson, from San Pedro Sula, Honduras, assumed command of Navy Recruiting District (NRD) Miami, January 2018. Her vision for NRD Miami was to change lives and to find purpose in the NRD mission.
Robinson took orders to NRD Miami to give back to the Navy. She never forgot how the recruiter who knocked on her door changed her life.
“I have lived by belief that I didn’t want to just make a living,” said Robinson. “I wanted to make a difference.”
When Robinson took command, NRD Miami was ranked 12th out of 13 districts. With her help and guidance, she saw her command rise to receive the highest award in Navy recruiting, FY18 Commander Navy Recruiting Command (CNRC) Golden R for Navy Recruiting District of the Year, the first ever in NRD Miami history.
Robinson had a few words for the Sailors. “You will always, forever and ever, be my family,” said Robinson. “This is bittersweet, but we all must move on.”

She was relieved by Rivera, a Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico native, who served as the Executive Officer for NRD Miami. His previous tours include USS Reuben James (FFG-57), USS Monsoon (PC-4), staff officer of Commander, U.S. Sixth Fleet, USS Crommelin (FFG-37) and USS Dewey (DDG-105). He commanded PC Crew Delta on board USS Tempest (PC-2), USS Sirocco (PC-6) and served as executive officer on board PCU John Finn (DDG-113).
“We will continue coming through for the nation,” said Rivera. “We will give our fleet the Sailors it needs to fight and win in combat.”

The Navy’s recruiting force totals over 6,100 personnel in more than 1,000 recruiting stations around the globe. Their combined goal is to attract the highest quality candidates to assure the ongoing success of America’s Navy.
Navy Recruiting Command consists of a command headquarters, three Navy Recruiting Regions, 18 Navy Recruiting Districts and eight Navy Talent Acquisition Groups that serve more than 1,300 recruiting stations across the world. Their combined goal is to attract the highest quality candidates to assure the ongoing success of America’s Navy.
