FORT LEE, Va. – The Defense Commissary Agency’s popular online shopping/curbside pickup service known as CLICK2GO became available to Naval Air Station Oceana, Virginia, shoppers June 3.

Oceana follows Fort Eustis, Virginia, as the second location in DeCA’s continued rollout of the new service. Eustis received the service March 1. DeCA plans to expand CLICK2GO to additional stores dependent on sales and transactions, existing infrastructure and demographics.

“We are continuously looking at new and innovative ways to improve our patrons’ shopping experience, and one of those initiatives is the introduction of our upgraded CLICK2GO program,” said retired Rear Adm. Robert J. Bianchi, DOD special assistant for commissary operations.

For Oceana Command Master Chief Lee A. Salas, the first customer to use the new service on June 3, it was all about convenience.

“CLICK2GO allowed me to have some of my valuable time back,” Salas said. “I was able to order and pick up my groceries at a convenient time.
“Ordering groceries from my mobile device in the kitchen of my own home allowed me to order exactly what I needed,” he added. “This is going to help save money and give back some of my valuable time to my family.”

Using CLICK2GO is a straight-forward process. Authorized commissary shoppers access the system through the agency’s customer portal, MyCommissary.com. An initial sign-up is required the first time users access the site. On DeCA’s website, Commissaries.com, they can also access the portal and learn more about the service at the site’s CLICK2GO section.

Once in CLICK2GO, patrons select from commissary products offered online based on the store’s stock assortment. After products are selected, the shopper selects a pickup time and completes the checkout process. The only thing left to do is arrive curbside at the appointed time, and pay. Commissary workers will load the groceries in the shopper’s car.

As part of an introductory offer, Oceana CLICK2GO services are free during the first 30 days of operation. After that a $4.95 service fee will be applied for each order.

“This is something our customers have asked for, and we are proud to be able to extend the CLICK2GO service to keep up with our customers’ busy lifestyles,” said Ingrid Ruiz, Oceana store director.

Three other commissaries at Fort Lee, Virginia, Offutt Air Force Base, Nebraska, and Travis Air Force Base, California had offered a CLICK2GO service under a pilot program which used a different business system. These locations discontinued their fulfillment of internet orders on June 1 when the contract for the pilot services expired.
