HOLLOMAN AIR FORCE BASE, N.M. -- Holloman’s Chiefs Group has a monthly recognition program titled Chief’s Choice Award. Every month, a chief has the honor of choosing a deserving Airman for an outstanding act or for continuous outstanding performance.
For the month of May, the chiefs are proud to present the Chief’s Choice Award to Staff Sgt. Ashley Hussain, 54th Operations Support Squadron Aircrew Flight Equipment main shop noncommissioned officer in charge.
Chief Master Sgt. Vincent Miller, 54th Fighter Group command chief, selected Hussain for her outstanding leadership here.
    Q. 1. What Squadron are you a part of, what is your job title and what are your duties?
I am assigned to the 54th Operations Support Squadron, and I am the AFE main shop NCOIC. My duties include maintaining inspection records for five flying squadrons, updating multiple equipment tracking systems for 350 flight safety items and equipment maintenance in support of 103 aircraft.
    Q. 2. How long have you been in the Air Force?
I have been in the Air Force for approximately 12 years.
    Q. 3. How long have you been at Holloman?
I have been stationed here since August of 2017.
    Q. 4. Where is your home town?
My hometown is San Antonio, Texas.
    Q. 5. What are your personal mottos?
My two mottos are, “Always strive to be better. You can never stop growing,” and, “Never let someone else tell you what you are capable of.”
    Q. 6. Name two of your long-term goals
First and foremost, I would like to get my master’s degree in social work. I have been a victim advocate for almost nine years now and I hope to continue that work not only in the military but outside the military and eventually become a full-time sexual assault response coordinator or work as a victim advocate for the state or police department. My other long-term goal is to continue to strive to be a better NCO and retire from the Air Force hopefully as a superintendent in my career field or get an opportunity outside my career field.
    Q. 7. What are your off-duty interests and hobbies?
I love to do craft projects, making shadow boxes or scrapbooks. I guess you can say those are my hobbies. My off-duty interests include being with my family and friends and making sure I have a good relationship with God and attending Bible studies.
    Q. 8. Who or what are your inspirations?
I really don’t have just one person in mind, I take inspirations from a lot of different people and God. All I want is to strive to be a better person every day. I believe no matter what age you are you can always grow and keep learning.
