ZIELONA GÓRA Poland -- As part of a community relations opportunity, Soldiers from the Judge Advocate General’s office of the 1st Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division, visited the students of Lingualand, a bilingual kindergarten school in Zielona Góra, Poland on May 8, 2019.

The school, which conducts classes in both Polish and English, invited the JAG Soldiers to attend a day of class. This gave the Soldiers an opportunity to interact with the students in English and talk about the role of U.S. Soldiers overseas. It also gave the students an opportunity to converse with native English speakers.

“As a school, we love to have visitors who speak English as their first language,” said Oriana Jujeczko, an English teacher at Lingualand. “We thought since the US Soldiers are here visiting Poland, then it would be a good idea for them to visit us, talk to the kids in English and talk about their job for a little bit.”

The Soldiers who attended the course, colored pictures with the students, showed them some of the standard issue Army protection equipment, and demonstrated some simple first aid techniques.

“We’re located here in Poland as a brigade headquarters,” said Staff Sgt. Teeples, a Paralegal Non-Commissioned Officer with the 1st ABCT. “We want to show the local population that we're good people, we're here to help them and that we're a team.”

Overall the event was a success and the JAG team hopes to participate in similar community events in the future.

“One of our missions here is to build those relations with the local nationals,” said Teeples. “This event was a good example of how to do that. I think these children are going to remember this for years to come.”
