CAMP LIBERTY, Iraq - Staff Sgt. Heather Swift, a native of Middletown, N.Y., and Pfc. Martina Smith, a native of Dudley, N.C. were congratulated for re-enlisting as Shower, Laundry, and Clothing Repair Specialists by Capt. Amy Saal, an Elkhart, Ind. native, commander of the 590th Quartermaster Company, 398th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion, 10th Sustainment Brigade.
Swift is the platoon sergeant of the 4th platoon, 140th Quartermaster Company, 398th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion, 10th Sustainment Brigade. As the senior non-commissioned officer of the platoon, her responsibilities include accounting for all Soldiers assigned to her platoon and accounting for all equipment assigned to her platoon. She is in charge of two SLCR sites that provide mission essential laundry and shower support to combat Soldiers within the Multi-National Division-Baghdad, Multi-National Division-Corps, and Multi-National Division-Southeast area of operations.
Smith is a SLCR specialist in the 3rd platoon, 590th QM Co. As a SLCR specialist, she is responsible for providing critical laundry and shower support to combat Soldiers. She is a Laundry Advanced System operator. As a LADS operator, she is tasked with operating the LADS that provides the laundry support required to aid combat Soldiers in dire need for clean uniforms. "Her support is greatly appreciated" says Sgt. 1st Class Terrance Porter, a native of Las Vegas and the platoon sergeant of the 3rd platoon, 590th QM Co.
With NCOs and Soldiers like Swift and Smith, the mission of the 590th QM Co. is able to proceed without incident. These Soldiers and their dedication to duty are examples of the premier class of customer service that the 590th QM Co. provides.
