JOINT BASE LEWIS-MCCHORD, Wash. – On April 27, Public Health Activity-Fort Lewis first year graduate veterinary education interns held an inaugural Pet Owner Disaster Preparedness Fair at the Joint Base Lewis -McChord Veterinary Center. The fair featured a vaccination and microchip clinic as well as emergency preparedness booths that were staffed by veterinarians, animal care specialists and food inspection specialists.

Participants at the fair received invaluable information on preparing for emergencies for their families, including their pets. Owners who brought their pets were also offered services including vaccinations, microchips, heartworm testing and preventative medications. The event helped 24 pet owners immediately with needed services without having to make and wait for an appointment.
