Increase morale, build camaraderie and improve living conditions.

That’s the mantra the leadership of Combat Logistics Regiment 27 is promoting as they tackle the quality of life at the barracks head on.

“It’s plain and simple, these Marines are fighting for their country and we owe them nice quarters.” said 1st Sgt. Joseph Benton, the company first sergeant with Food Service Company, CLR-27, 2nd Marine logistics Group.

To celebrate the completion of renovations, the regiment held a barracks bash on Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, April 18, 2019.

The event had catered food, a basketball competition, volleyball, music and more.

The Marines improved their barracks by building gazebos, installing volleyball courts, adding grills, new pool tables, and TVs.

“We care about our Marines,” said Jose Padilla, the deployment readiness coordinator for CLR-27. “We are trying to show the Marine that the Marine Corps is willing to invest in their homes to elevate morale.”

“What I like most about the improvements is the grill and pool table," said Lance Cpl. Cameron Carawan with Headquarters Company, CLR-27. "I think they will improve the quality of life.”
